Youth Camping Retreat- Channel Islands National Park

This is a unique opportunity for kids to unplug from their regular lives, fully immerse in nature and focusing on their wellness!

 

Participants will pack up all they need in a backpack or compact bag for a 2 night stay on the island. We will meet at the Island Packers headquarters in Ventura Harbor to board the boat early Friday morning and return Sunday afternoon. 

At camp, we will learn about basic camping and safety practices and venture from there for various hikes. Throughout the experience, we will engage in a variety of group discussions, self-reflections in journaling and lessons on healthy coping skills to provide support around wellness. This experience is not therapy, but will feel therapeutic with all the activities and experiences incorporated. 

The facilitators will provide a supportive, educational and safe experience in nature through their backgrounds in therapy, wilderness education and wilderness first aid training.

You will need some of your own gear and we are able to supply some of the camping gear you might need (like big backpacks, sleeping pads, mess kits, headlamps, etc)

Beginners Welcome

No camping or backpacking experience required. We will support and teach you all you need to know.

REQUIRED PACKING MEETING

Thursday, April 6th in the evening 

We will go over and pack all the gear, go over guidelines & answer any questions 

$200 - Includes all meals, boat tickets & campsite, group activities & lessons and group & some individual gear
