Discover Yourself in Nature

Experience the healing power of nature while deepening your connection to yourself and others on this guided overnight backpacking adventure.

Designed for both beginners and seasoned hikers, this weekend combines mindful practices, group circles, solo reflection, and the magic of the backcountry. You’ll journey 2–4 miles to a backcountry campsite where we’ll explore, unwind, and reconnect—leaving you feeling strong, grounded, connected and inspired.

All meals, activities, and group gear are included. Gear loans available. No prior experience needed.

Logistics

  • 1 night (Saturday ~8am - Sunday ~1pm)

  • Ojai backcountry trail to primitive campsite on the river

  • You'll sleep in your own tent or under the stars

  • What you Bring: Personal backpacking essentials + layered clothing (specific list in welcome packet)

  • What's included: Guided hikes, meals, shared gear, guided experiences

  • Cost: $225 Early Bird (before Oct 1) • $255 Regular (Through Oct 22)

Activity, Fitness & Skills

This retreat is rated Easy–Intermediate and is ideal for beginners with a sense of adventure and openness to challenge. We’ll hike 2–4 miles each way with backpacks (~20–30 lbs), along gently rolling trails with some uphill sections. Shade is limited in some areas, and you may cross small streams depending on the season—expect a little rock-hopping or getting your feet wet.

You don’t need to be an experienced hiker, but a moderate fitness level will help you feel more confident and comfortable on the trail. We recommend preparing by walking or hiking with a bit of weight on your back to get used to carrying your gear.

If you can hike a few miles and are willing to carry your own pack, you can do this! And of course, we’ll support you every step of the way. The only thing taking your breath away should be the beauty of the trail ✨

More Than Just a Backpacking Trip

Unlike typical backpacking trips, this experience weaves together movement, self-reflection, sharing circles, and meaningful connection. Through intentional group gatherings, solo reflection time, and practices that support emotional wellness, you’ll be invited to slow down, tune in, and connect—both with nature and with yourself.

You’ll share space with like-minded women, feel seen and supported, and walk away not just with sore legs—but with a nourished heart, a clear mind, and a renewed sense of self.

Our Story

Meet Tessa Magill & Anna Preston

We’re two women who share a deep love for the outdoors and a passion for helping others grow—and Thrive x Wiild was born from that spark. Since 2021, we’ve guided 5+ backpacking retreats together, all rooted in our shared vision: to help women find adventure, strength, sisterhood, and nourishment in nature. Each retreat keeps getting better, and we can’t wait to share the magic with you.
 

As your facilitators, we bring a balance of structure and soul.
Tessa Magill, founder of Thrive Wellness Workshop, blends her experience as a therapist and trail guide to offer a grounded, safe, supportive space in nature.
Anna Preston, founder of Wiild.co, brings her background as a life coach and women’s circle leader, creating space for empowerment, wisdom and connection.

Together, we’re here to walk beside you—offering guidance, encouragement, and presence every step of the way.
